Date Night 🍆
Because nothing says romance like good food, good wine, and a little innuendo.
Sometimes the most romantic thing you can do is order a perfect eggplant parm, pour a great bottle of wine, and flirt outrageously over carbs.
Eggplant parm is one of my all time favorite dishes. I almost always get it if I’m at an italian restaurant.
Eggplant isn’t Italian by birth, did you know that? It actually originated in India and Southeast Asia, where it was considered medicinal before it was considered delicious. Europeans were initially suspicious of it, calling it the “mad apple” because they thought it caused illness.
Fast forward to now: it’s a staple of romantic Italian dinners and the famous emoji.
Why Eggplant Parm Is Peak Valentine’s Energy
Eggplant parm is rich, comforting, indulgent, and layered—emotionally and literally. It requires time, care, and commitment. Much like love. If love languages had a menu item, this would be acts of service + physical touch.
Look for:
• Thin-sliced eggplant (no soggy nonsense)
• Balanced sauce (bright, not sugary)
• Real mozzarella + parm
Some of my favorite eggplant parm:
Daniella’s Peabody MA
Ferrara’s NYC
Dan Tana’s- West Hollywood CA
The Perfect Wine Pairing (Trust Me)
Eggplant parm loves a wine with acidity to cut through the cheese and enough body to stand up to tomato sauce.
My go-tos:
• Chianti Classico – classic, flirty, never trying too hard
• Sangiovese – bright, food-friendly, Italian soul
If you’re opening wine with someone you love, choose something you can drink together, not something that outshines the moment.
🍷🍆💘
I’d love to know where you’ve had the best eggplant in the comments!
